Bringing forth an impressive display of beauty and function melded into one, Shimano has ventured out to set the standard in high performance road and cyclocross hydraulic brake and shifting systems by combining the best of it's proven Di2 electronic shifting system and ICE hydraulic disc brake technology. Enter the new R785 series Di2/hydraulic disc brake system.
Shimano Di2 electronic shifting delivers extremely fast, precise shifting and is almost endlessly customizable. Even with a complex network of Di2 technology under the hoods, the svelte form factor of the ST-R785 hydraulic/shift lever is highly ergonomic and accommodates a variety of hand sizes. Always pushing the limits of design, Shimano incorporated compact aesthetics into the ST-R785 lever for a comfortable feel identical to other Di2 Shimano Di2 road shift/brake levers. The brake lever delivers more stopping power with less effort, especially from the hood position, and includes reach and free stroke adjustments in addition to a pad clearance auto adjustment at the caliper. When paired with new E-Tube enabled Ultegra 6870 Di2 or Dura-Ace 9070 Di2 drivetrains and a growing array of Shimano remote and accessory shifters and electronic components, riders have access to a fully customizable and programmable shifting system—including multi-shift speed and shift count—all with the added bonus of future firmware upgrades and improvements.
Shimano ICE Technologies hydraulic disc brake systems include new advancements for 2014 that will give riders confident braking on long road descents in all weather conditions. The new BR-R785 hydraulic disc brake caliper features a two-piston design with mountain bike stopping power that is tuned for road use. Heat reduction in the caliper is further enhanced with ICE Technologies finned disc brake pads that reduce heat by 50 degrees. On the road, braking power is consistent no matter the conditions or the descent. At the weekend cyclocross course, racers can brake later and more confidently in the corners, with more power and better modulation in all conditions.
