Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 Road Frameset, 2025 season, white. Specialized reference: 74924-0354
Nothing is faster than the Tarmac SL8 thanks to a combination of aerodynamics, lightness and ride quality that was previously thought impossible. After eight generations and more than two decades of development, it is more than the fastest Tarmac ever: it is the fastest race bike in the world.
Aerodynamics or lightness alone do not win races: speed is what matters. To achieve that speed requires creating an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness and compliance. Through race simulations with real data, our Ride Science team knows that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest race bike ever built on the roads that matter: 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km, 128 seconds faster at Milan San Remo, 20 seconds faster on the legendary Tourmalet climb.
AERODYNAMICS ALL THE WAY AROUND: We’re putting aero where it matters – at the leading edge, not just where it looks good. In the process, we’ve created our most aerodynamic road bike yet. Yes, it’s more aero than the Venge. Clean air is optimized for maximum advantage with the Tarmac’s new front taper, the Speed Sniffer. By moving the head tube back – the tube that determines the width of the head tube – the leading edge of the head tube can be much sharper, offering a much lower drag shape. Using new UCI rules, the Tarmac SL8 has the narrowest, most aerodynamic seatpost we’ve ever made, ensuring that the dirty air moving quickly around your legs can flow back more cleanly. Doesn’t victory smell sweet? MINIMUM WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERODYNAMICS: The Tarmac SL8 took the learnings from Aethos to be easily built to the UCI minimum with a full aero setup. The team has created a laugh-out-loud 685-gram frame that’s 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and every other World Tour bike*. With the ability to make light weight a top priority in the down tube, seat tube and rear end of the bike, the lessons from the Aethos have been applied. The frame shape carries the load so efficiently that additional carbon stiffness layers are rendered redundant. *Unless, of course, you count the time Kasper Asgreen raced our 585-gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage. RIDES LIKE HELL, RIDES LIKE HEAVEN: With massive gains in stiffness-to-weight ratio (a 33% improvement over the SL7), the Tarmac SL8 takes legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Championship-proven geometry to the next level. The bike is stiffer at the pedals, more precise at the bars, and matches that with a comfortable ride in the saddle that sets a new benchmark for race bike comfort. Thanks to our Rider-First Engineering, every rider, regardless of size, gets the same unprecedented ride quality and handling. In the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance, floating over rough trails with a supple feel unique in the race bike world. The Tarmac’s proven geometry and 32mm tire clearance are identical to the SL7, ensuring easy adaptation and the versatility to use larger volume tires when needed. BEYOND GENDER: There can be more differences between two male riders than between a man and a woman. Gender alone doesn’t provide enough data to specialize and that means creating bikes for men or women is arbitrary and outdated. Every rider can get the next-level advantage of the Tarmac SL8. It’s time to go beyond gender.
