• While aerodynamics was paramount to the development of the Tarmac, and to the development of all our racing bikes, weight was the co-pilot on this journey towards the perfect racing bike. Previously, "aero bikes" were always compromised in the weight department: the more the aerodynamic drag was reduced, the more weight was gained. With the new Tarmac, our design philosophy was to keep it at or below the UCI weight limit, without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil shape library, tools like finite element isotopic analysis, and some tricks from the best engineers in the business, we've achieved a FACT 9r frame that weighs just 1,010 grams, without giving up a gram of aerodynamics, stiffness or ride quality.
• Continuing our quest to develop the perfect racing bike, we've used our Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to ensure the new Tarmac is the most balanced and best-handling bike yet, regardless of your height. With an army of the world's best test riders from our three World Tour teams - SD-Worx, Soudal-Quick-Step, and Bora-Hansgrohe - we made changes to the Tarmac based on its thousands of kilometers on the road. We've balanced the ride quality between the front and rear, so even the longest days in the saddle remain comfortable, all without giving up any of the Tarmac's legendary handling and race-winning agility.
• Building on what we learned from the Venge, the new Tarmac uses simple integration to create a clean, fast cockpit that's easy to live with. We've improved routing for any setup - mechanical shifters, traditional stems, round bars, etc. - all while maintaining its aerodynamic attributes. These same features also make the new Tarmac easy to adjust and travel with. We all win.
