Shimano XTR SL-M9100 Rapidfire Plus (Mono) Shifter
The goal of developing the Shimano XTR SL-M9100 shifters was to allow the rider to react immediately to sudden changes caused by the course or the race situation. To do this, the intuitive handlebar operation of the XTR 9100 has been significantly optimized once again, which can be a decisive tenth of a second advantage in races. The special attention the developers have paid to gear changing ultimately benefits the driver, allowing him to focus away from the controls and into the racing action. In addition, the developers have created shifters with significantly less lever force and travel, so that mountain bikers can operate their system intuitively and smoothly with minimal finger movements.
Proven features like Rapidfire Plus, 2-Way, Instant and Multi-Release have of course been carried over from its predecessors. The Rapidfire Plus Mono left shifter for 2-way systems is a completely new development, where you can shift to the large or small chainring with just one lever. The stick is pushed forward with the thumb to go up, but it doesn't spring back as before, instead staying locked in this position. To get down to the small chainring, this lock is released by simply pushing it back in with your thumb or pulling it out with your index finger.
Instant Release allows faster gear changes. The cable is released immediately when the lever is operated. You can change faster than before.
Multi Release (right lever only) allows four gear changes. Now you can shift with the primary or secondary stick in both directions in multiple gears.
2-Way-Release allows release of the pull by pressing with the thumb or pulling with the index finger. So you don't have to adapt your driving style to the rear derailleur, but the rear derailleur adapts to your driving style.
