When we developed the Tarmac, we didn't just want it to be fast. We wanted it to be fast everywhere. Long climbs, windy flats, grand tour stages, local gears - we build the most complete competition bike out there. How did we do it? We started with our Rider-First Engineered ™ frame whose behavior is perfectly adapted to each size, we added some aero technology that makes it 30 seconds faster than the Tarmac SL5 over a distance of 40 kilometers, and then we lighten it by 20%. There is no other lighter, faster and with better behavior. This Tarmac is equipped with reliable components including a Shimano Ultegra mechanical drivetrain and powerful hydraulic disc brakes, strong DT R470 Disc wheels, and our customer favorite Power saddle.
We build the Tarmac using advanced Aerospace Composites Optimization Software that revolutionizes the construction and layout of our new FACT 8r carbon.
Rider-First Engineered ™ joins 500 pieces to create 7 different sizes with the same behavior. We examine every layer of carbon in every frame size, so that all of our performance goals are met. To make sure you get the perfect performance, the carbon layout of each frame is unique, with different layers, orientations, amount of material in specific areas, and sometimes even its own thicknesses and types of carbon.
Aerodynamics is the most important thing we can offer you to make you faster, but on the Tarmac, we have added aerodynamic performance without penalizing weight. Through research, areas were discovered in which to improve aerodynamics for free, a new fork design and low, profiled seatstays. The result? A Tarmac that is roughly 30 seconds faster by 40 kilometers.
The new geometry is based on countless Retül data and information from professional cyclists. This allowed us to develop a Performance Road Geometry that perfectly combines a lively front end, and a short wheelbase that offers instant response and optimal power transfer.
